LET'S GET WILD TOGETHER
In its briefest, Storm Boy is a band. And we can build from there…Storm Boy is a band from Olympia, Washington. Storm Boy is a band from Olympia, Washington, made up of a diverse collection of races, beliefs, identities, orientations, ages, and genders…who play post-hardcore rock n roll. And there it is.
Initially formed over Covid as a placeholder for the band not-yet-assembled to be a vehicle for the songs Chas Roberts was writing in their garage, the project was designed to allow the band in Chas’ brain to explode from lockdown fully formed, channeling the angst of the time into leading with joy. Of course, the world had other plans and the coming together took a little longer and the joy got a little sour, but the fire burned strong and Storm Boy has since grown to be a collective that is collectively finding their voice. Loudly. Proudly. Fiercely. Hopefully….as a project that fits raising fists in protest, just as well as moving asses on the dancefloor.
Chas was joined by drummer Jeremy Anderson, with whom they played in Seattle noise rock band Voycheck. Together, along with some friends filling in on bass and rhythm guitar, they started playing anywhere and everywhere in the northwest, while also looking for the more interesting mediums- roller rinks, bowling alleys, and blood wrestling rings. It was in a blood wrestling ring where they met Charli Beaumont when she won the tournament to crown the Blood Ruler of Olympia, Washington. She met up with Chas to tryout, and played her first show with Storm Boy a week later. It was at that show that they met bassist Kuba Bednarek through their friends, Seattle band Dead Streets…and the lineup was complete.
Storm Boy spent the next few months writing and getting to know each other before going into Titan Recording Studio to work with Scot Michael (Shame Banger, Picket Lines) to record 2024’s SUPERPOSITION!, a four song EP that announced Storm Boy’s presence with fire. The EP earned the band comparisons to post-hardcore legends like Fugazi, Hot water Music, IDLES, Sisters of Mercy, and Hüsker Dü, while carving out a space all their own with what The Big Takeover called their “brilliantly different” approach. New Noise praised SUPERPOSITION! for its “emotional poetry and complex yet energetic tracks that hit like a freight train,” while DCXPC Live lauded their “creative songwriting” and ability to “deliver a style that feels nostalgic while at the same time new.”
The growth continues with the announcement of Storm Boy’s debut LP, Beast Machine Theory, to be released January 15, 2026. Beast Machine Theory features 8 tracks in 33 minutes that span the extent of Storm Boy’s history, with one track dating back to the the first pair of songs Chas wrote for this project, to one being played together for the first time the day they entered the studio to record it, as well as a new track penned by Charli Beaumont. Beast Machine Theory Provides the sounding board for the band to take a greater step into the future; to take their sound to new levels, and new audiences while they embark on an east coast tour through the Northeast of Chas’ youth, coinciding with the release of Beast Machine Theory.
Where they go from here…well, hop in and find out.

"For me, Storm Boy’s music is all about leaning into what you’re feeling at the time, i.e. joy, enthusiasm, bravado, and emotion. The energy I pick up on from the upcoming record is akin to “letting go” and just rollin with the rock. A perfect storm."
