LET'S GET WILD TOGETHER

Hailing from Olympia, Washington, Storm Boy is a post-hardcore collective born where punk urgency collides with sweat-soaked joy. The project started the way a lot of good things did during the pandemic: alone, restless, and searching for an outlet. What began as songwriter Chas Roberts’ solo release valve didn’t stay solitary for long, quickly snapping into a four-piece with drummer Jeremy Anderson, guitarist Charli Beaumont, and bassist Kuba Bednarek—each one bringing their own momentum, muscle, and push to the room.

Storm Boy really comes alive onstage. The live show is kinetic and communal—bodies moving, voices traded across three vocalists, and songs that feel just as comfortable soundtracking a picket line as they do a dance floor. Early releases hinted at something volatile, but once the band locked in as a true unit, that spark turned into a sustained burn.

Their 2024 EP SUPERPOSITION! drew attention for pairing raw emotion with jagged post-hardcore textures, but the real statement arrived with Beast Machine Theory, released January 15, 2026. The band’s debut LP pulls together eight tracks that stretch across Storm Boy’s history, capturing both where they started and where they’re headed. Recorded over three days with longtime producer Scot Michael at Titan Recording Studio, the album preserves the tension between urgent punk bite and broader, more expansive songcraft—nothing overly polished, nothing wasted.

Beast Machine Theory moves like a freight train with a pulse. Snarling riffs make room for moments built around connection and motion, not just catharsis for its own sake. Tracks like “Tiny Fists” and “In the Shadows of Fort Reno” channel disillusionment into something actionable, while longtime live staple “From Your Mouth” lands as a reminder that lifting each other up is sometimes the most radical move you can make. Across its eight songs, the record holds space for reflection, release, and movement, all without losing sight of the band’s DIY spine.

At the core of Storm Boy is collaboration. Ideas get pulled apart, rebuilt, and stress-tested until energy outweighs ego. That philosophy shows up in live sets that invite dancing as much as yelling, and in songwriting that draws from classic post-hardcore and contemporary brashness without turning into cosplay.

Rooted in the Northwest’s DIY ecosystem but never boxed in by it, Storm Boy is just as at home in basements as they are on bigger stages. They bring people together through unpolished humanity—the kind that reminds you why punk still matters in the first place. With Beast Machine Theory out in the world and touring underway, Storm Boy are proving that presence and passion still count—and maybe matter more than anything else.

"For me, Storm Boy’s music is all about leaning into what you’re feeling at the time, i.e. joy, enthusiasm, bravado, and emotion. The energy I pick up on from the upcoming record is akin to “letting go” and just rollin with the rock. A perfect storm."
